Safe motherhood: Jigawa council provides 10 delivery beds, others for health facilities
“The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Salisu Sani, says the delivery of 10 beds, patient beds, including mattresses are provided to equip the area’s general hospital”
The Malam Madori Local Government Council of Jigawa has procured 10 delivery beds for distribution to health facilities in the area. This is contained in a statement by the council’s Information Officer, Mr. Musa Muhammad, in Dutse on Wednesday.
Musa said the gesture was part of the council’s efforts to promote safe motherhood and delivery among women in rural communities.
“The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Salisu Sani, says the delivery of 10 beds, patient beds, including mattresses are provided to equip the area’s general hospital.
“Also, other health post-delivery rooms with modern delivery beds are provided to encourage mothers to deliver at the hospital, thereby reducing maternal and infant mortality,” the officer said.
He added that the gesture was expected to also encourage rural women patronise health facilities for ante- and post-natal care.
“The hospital delivery beds, patients beds and mattresses will be distributed to hospitals and health posts across the local government area to enhance their functionality,” he said.
Musa said that the chairman had urged Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) to ensure that the items were distributed fairly among the designated health health facilities.
According to him, while receiving the items, the Primary Health Care Coordinator in the area, Mr. Rabiu Umar, commended the efforts in improving health care service delivery in the area.
